Abstract

In this interview, Jigme Tsering, Executive Director of the Tibet House in São Paulo, discusses the preservation of Tibetan culture in Brazil. Tsering describes the mission of the Tibet House, focused on promoting Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and preserving Tibetan culture through cultural and educational activities. He addresses the challenges faced by Tibetans in exile, the influence of Tibetan culture in Latin America, and the initiatives of the Tibet House to engage Brazilians interested in Tibetan Buddhism. The interview highlights the importance of preserving Tibetan cultural identity and the contribution of the Tibet House to intercultural dialogue and the promotion of peace.

Loyane Ferreira, Universidade Metodista de São Paulo - UMESP

Doutoranda em Ciências da Religião pela Universidade Metodista de São Paulo (UMESP), na área Religião, Sociedade e Cultura, estudando leituras ocidentais sobre o budismo no contexto da construção do campo de estudos da História das Religiões no século XIX. Plínio Marcos Tsai, Universidade Metodista de São Paulo - UMESP

General Director of the Pramana Institute, holding a PhD from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Sinology from the Department of Social Sciences. Holds a Master's degree (Ms) in Sinology/Contemporary Philosophy from the State University of Londrina (UEL) from the Department of Philosophy. Holds a degree in Law from the Salesian University Center of São Paulo and in Theology from the Catholic University Dom Bosco. Founder of the Buddha-Dharma Association of Valinhos/SP. He is a professor of the Pramana's Free Undergraduate and Free Postgraduate Programs. He is a translator of books on Buddhist Logic, Philosophy, and Religion. He was elected in December 2017 to join the Executive Committee of the IBC (International Buddhist Confederation), as well as a member of the IBC Education Committee. He leads the Manjusri Translation Group of the Buddha-Dharma Association. Since January 2020, he has been a member of the International Committee of the Buddhist Association of the Republic of China in Taiwan. Member of the European Association of Chinese Studies. Member of the Brazilian Society of Logic. Bachelor's degree in Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka/The Buddha-Dharma Association Hong Kong, with proficiency in Pali. Master's degree from the University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka/The Buddha-Dharma Association Hong Kong. Collaborating Professor of the Religious Studies Program at the Methodist University of São Paulo (UMESP) since 2022. Simultaneous Chinese language interpreter at the VIII and IX International Colloquium on Oriental Philosophy, UNICAMP.

Nirvana França, Universidade Metodista de São Paulo - UMESP

PhD candidate at UMESP - Methodist University of São Paulo. Master’s degree from UMESP - Methodist University of São Paulo with a CAPES scholarship. Graduated in Law from the Salesian University Center of São Paulo (2010). Graduated in Theology from the Pramana Institute (completed in 2018) and has also been a nun (since 2009) at the Buddha-Dharma Association in Valinhos-SP, participating in the association’s social and educational activities. She is the editor of the Mandrágora Journal and also participates in the meetings of the Mandrágora Netmal Research Group
