Abstract

The Latter-day Saints, often referred to as Mormons, present a historical narrative intrinsically linked to migratory processes since their foundation, marked by establishment in the Western United States. In the Brazilian context, the early adherents of this faith were mostly European immigrants, especially of German origin. Thus, we observe the formation of a religious community characterized by diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, united by adherence to an American-based faith. This article aims to analyze how this religious intersection influenced the beliefs and religious practices of European immigrants in Joinville, Santa Catarina, who embraced this faith. Additionally, the text address examples of persecution against the immigrant's faith and their everyday interaction with non-immigrants.
