Abstract

Although the atheist position of the English ethologist Richard Dawkins (1941) is closely associated with the publication of his work The god delusion (2006), intellectually, his non-religious worldview was developed in his early works, particularly in The selfish gene (1976) and The blind watchmaker (1986). In this article, my objective is to talk about how the neo-Darwinism intellectual scene of the second half of the 20th century forged Richard Dawkins' atheism. Based on this epistemic basis, he develops an interpretation of the religious phenomenon presented in the book The god delusion.
