O papel da filosofia na ciência da religião e sua rearticulação a partir dos clássicos

This paper aims to consider the relationship between philosophy and the science of religion from a historical and analytical perspective, exploring the implications that arise from this dynamic across three complementary stages. The first section discusses the decline of philosophy within the discipline, first analyzing the antecedence of this relationship (Hedley; Ryan, 2014) before addressing the historical separation between them that led to a loss of dialogue (Jong, 2024; Lewis, 2015). Next, we consider the suggestion for a philosophy of the science of religion as discussed by Gardiner and Engler (2024), drawing on dialogue with Kanaris (2002; 2018; 2023) and Schilbrack (2014). The third and final section addresses the role of philosophy in the origins of the science of religion during the 19th century (Figueiredo, 2022). In conclusion, we examine some of the issues surrounding this type of philosophical work dedicated to the discipline.
